More Upper Class Dorms

There are four other upper class dorms also located closest to the upper campus of Trinity University.  The four dorms include Lightner, McLean, Murchison, and South.

Located between Prassel and Thomas Halls on the western side of campus, Camille Lightner Hall is one of the university’s most popular halls.  Each of the thirty suites on five floors contains a living room area.  Even more, each room, instead of each suite, has its own bathroom, which is unique to Lightner.

Verna  McLean, which is located on the east side of Trinity’s campus and across from the Bell Athletic Center, houses upper class students on its two upper floors.  Each suite has its own balcony.  There are kitchens located on each floor, as well as several study lounges.  There is also access to the roof of McLean, which contains a deck with patio furniture.

Murchison Hall, which is close to the Coates University Center and the university’s outdoor swimming pool, contains Murchison Lounge, which is a wonderful alternative study environment.  This is a two-story dorm.

Located on the western end of campus, South Hall offers views of both the university’s football field and the skyline of San Antonio.  Several of the rooms located on the first floor of this dorm were originally designed to house three students.  South Hall allows for access to the North/South Foyer, which is both a study lounge and a game room.

Upper Class Dorms

Juniors and seniors occupy the rest of the residence halls, which are located on the western and central edges of lower campus.  All residence halls for upper classmen are located closest to the upper campus of Trinity University.

Isabel Hall offers breathtaking views of downtown San Antonio and the football field of Trinity.  This residence hall is part of the McFarlin complex, which is comprised of Isabel, Susanna, and Myrtle Halls.  There is a laundry room on the first floor, a study lounge on the second floor with a large television, and each suite has a balcony.  Isabel Hall also offers access to the North/South Foyer and Heidi Lounge.

Susanna Hall is another upper-class hall that is one of the three halls that comprise the McFarlin complex.  It is centrally located near upper campus.  Residents of Susanna Hall typically use the laundry room located in Isabel Hall, as it is the closest laundry facility.  Susanna Hall also offers easy access to the North/South Foyer and Heidi Lounge.  There is a study lounge with a large television on the second floor and suitemates share a balcony with each other.

Located above the Elizabeth Rhea Health Services Center and next to both Isabel and Susanna Halls, Myrtle McFarlin Hall is centrally located near upper campus.  There is a laundry room in Isabel Hall that students can use.  The residence hall also offers easy access to Heidi Lounge, which is equipped with vending machines.  Residents of Myrtle can enjoy a lounge area located on the second floor of the building, as well as balconies that are shared with suitemates.

Sophomore Dorms

The Sophomore College, in which there are three main dorms, is located on the western side of the lower campus area, near the Bell Center and major athletic fields.  The three main dorms for the Sophomore College include Prassel, North, and Thomas.

The newest residence hall on campus, Dick and Peggy Prassel Hall is the farthest residence hall from the Mabee Dining Hall, Coates University Center, and upper campus academic facilities.  However, every weekday morning in the atrium, a continental breakfast is served to students.  Additionally, the residence hall includes a game room featuring billiards, table tennis, foosball, and a large television.  There is also an enormous laundry room and an area with vending machines on the atrium level.  Even more, each of the three floors of Prassel contain a kitchen and social lounge.  There are also numerous study lounges on each of the three floors, balconies that are shared by one’s suitemates, and a covered parking garage.

North Hall is located on the west side of campus, and is connected to a study and social lounge, known as the North/South Foyer.  The North/South Foyer game room has billiards, a foosball table, table tennis, and a large television.   There are also vending machines and ice machines in the Foyer Area and laundry facilities on all of the floors of North.

Thomas Hall is an eight floor residence hall that is attached to Lightner Hall, and has two elevators.  Every floor, except the first, has a laundry room.  Additionally, there is a study lounged with a kitchen and a large television on the third floor.  Thomas Hall features incredible views of the San Antonio skyline.

Freshman Dorms

As a freshman back in 2008-09, I lived in Miller Hall, which is one of the seven dorms that house freshman students at Trinity University.  All seven freshman dorms are located near Mabee Dining Hall and the Witt Computer Center on the east side of campus.  The other dorms for freshman students are Witt, Winn, McLean, Herndon, Calvert, and Beze.  The residence halls all have  different Resident Mentors that are there to help students with any questions or problems, and to ensure students are acting appropriately and responsibly.  The dorms house both men and women.  The dorms feature large closets with clothing rods and shelving, mini-blinds that cover the windows for privacy, and built-in desks with shelving and drawers.  These dorms also include mini-fridges, as well as a microwaves in each room.  Additionally, the dorms contain laundry rooms for the students.  McLean, which houses freshman on the first floor, allows for access to its roof, which contains a deck and outdoor furniture, and features balconies that are shared with wallmates.  On the first floor of Beze, there is a game room equipped with a television and small kitchen.  Beze also contains a large computer lab for the students.  Witt and Winn also feature kitchens, as well as study lounges on the third floors, and have an elevator.
